Midlife Women Aren’t Over the Hill: They’re Just getting Started!
General Peri Info·Kirstin Bouse·Feb 6, 2025· 6 minutes

Yes, the Menopause space sure is growing day by day, with lots of new services, support and self-proclaimed coaches popping up seemingly out of nowhere!  What worries us is there is growing noise around monetising and medicalising the menopause experience - and women DESERVE BETTER!

As a health professional, with clients with ovaries in their 30s, 40s and 50s you are ALREADY TREATING midlife individuals going through the menopause transition.

We know that the VERY BEST way to support your midlife clients, is to stay up to date with research and offer true, holistic, multidisciplinary support from a team of menopause-aware and educated practitioners.

At All About Her Centre for Menopause, we are allied health professionals led - our director and Midlife Clinical Psychologist Kirstin Bouse at the helm, and a growing community of practitioners by her side.

As a Clinical Psychologist with three decades of experience, Kirstin found perimenopause to be one of the hardest experiences of her life, marked by fatigue, brain fog, and an emotional rollercoaster. Hormone Therapy helped, but it wasn't a complete solution. The support of other health practitioners and significant lifestyle changes were key to her wellbeing which is why she has desiccated her career to evolving healthcare professionals into menopause experts.

Our members lead our growth - we VALUE what every single discipline can bring to supporting midlife women. From the psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists best suited to support the massive identity shifts and psychological stressors - to the nutritionists and naturopaths who can best support the gut health, immune function and hormonal balance which can add to the symptoms rollercoaster - to the physiotherapists who can address pelvic floor concerns including incontinence.

We KNOW that a multidisciplinary bio-psycho-socio-cultural approach wins, meaning that our team of health professionals consider all internal and external influences on how an individual experiences menopause and offer personalised treatment plans which often include lifestyle, medical, psychological and social supports.

Despite the conventional “hormone deficiency” model, we know the way forward is a collaborative, holistic approach where our clients have access to options and pathways for the challenges they most want to address - not just the hot flushes and night sweats they’ve been told are most problematic.

GPs are often the “first port of call” for women troubled by significant menopause transition symptoms and if you have a menopause-informed GP, then you’re off to a great start. Unfortunately so many aren’t and in fact, those that are acknowledge the lack of education and training about menopause in their own training pathways. Hopefully this changes! Whether you are supported by your GP or not, our ur dedication to raising menopause awareness and evidence-backed education means that midlife clients will have far CHOICE and CONTROL on how they approach this transition and the support they seek for their individual, and ever-evolving needs.

Our support for midlife women is informed by our health professionals who have not only fine tuned their craft over many decades (their knowledge and skill in their health discipline), they have also pursued extensive training in relation to menopause. As they continue to learn, they also co-create a growing resource library of content, podcast interviews and evidence-based fact sheets ready and available to you.

Together, our community stands proud and united in our dedication and commitment to supporting the menopause transition in a way that sees this life stage as a significant and fundamental Rite of Passage… and we KNOW our midlife clients are far from over the hill - in fact they’re just getting started!

We know our clients and far from done and dusted - we know that they, just like a lot of our members, are just getting started and keen to use this transition as a window of opportunity to access even better levels of health and happiness in our 40s, 50 and well beyond!
